History of Electrical Panel Producers’ Trade Association
Following the revolution, statesmen of the Islamic Republic of Iran established some specialized core groups in various industrial branches under the title of ‘self-sufficiency core groups’ with the aim of the nation’s self-reliance and through relevant ministries including then Ministry of Industries.
Each of these core groups analyzed the fundamental problems of industries and reached desirable results through organizing specialized conferences and conventions.
The outcome of those conventions gave the government the impetus to take up the policy of establishing research units in all branches of homogenous industries, instead of letting the self-sufficiency core groups continue their activities, so that close ties could be established between industries and universities using the scientific wealth of universities and experiences accumulated by industries.
Thus, research-oriented companies executed various projects and manifested potential and actual capabilities of industries and academic entities owing to financial and specialized cooperation and assistance of governmental bodies and the private sector.
In the branch of power industry, Saba Kar Research Company managed to compile and formulate important books and references through mobilization of knowledgeable experts and university professors in order to elevate the quality level of electrical industries hence making substantial contributions to the country’s power sector.
As the time passed, the revolutionary government, in the knowledge of economic globalization, set its policy on the principle of minimizing its incumbency in industry, agriculture and utility sectors and transfer these sectors to the private sector while maintaining its position in governance, planning, and supervision of such activities so that it could take effective steps toward prosperity of the country’s economy.
The policy culminated in formation of entities in various industrial branches including Electrical Panel Producers’ Trade Union.
Having received directions from then authorities of Ministry of Industries, veterans of electrical panel producing industry formed a board of founders, prepared an Article of Association for the Association and registered legal activity of this entity at governmental authorities.
Once the members of the board of directors were elected and a secretary was employed for the board, the Association practically started to work as of the date of 22 June 1998. At the outset of its activity, necessary measures were taken to recruit members from among electrical panel industry owners, and since the establishment of the union, some 76 panel producing companies of different ranks have been granted membership.
Establishing close ties with the Ministry of Industries and Mines, Ministry of Taxation and Economic Affairs, Ministry of Energy, Management and Planning Organization, specialized parliamentary commissions, and all other bodies which can help solve predicaments of electrical panel industry through the decisions they take in one way or another has been one of the utmost actions of the Association since its establishment ever.
In addition to communication of the problems of electrical panel producers to responsible authorities, the Association has always been up to establish and defend the rights of electrical panel producing industry owners. The Association is currently recognized as one of the non-governmental specialized institutions relied on by ministries and governmental organizations, in particular, Ministry of Energy and Ministry of Industries and Mines.
One of the important measures of the union’s first board of directors was establishment of the Overall Cooperative Company of the Electrical Panel Producers’ Trade Union. With a turnover reaching almost 10 billion rials by now, the cooperative company has supplied the demands of the members within its reach. Having reached agreements with producers of electrical equipment and steel sheets, and even bus-bar producers in some cases, the company gets the demands of the members supplied from the main production sources and puts them at their disposal under convenient conditions.
Since its establishment, the Association has held three rounds of board elections. At the time being, the third board of directors is pursuing assiduously solutions to the predicaments and problems of electrical panel producing industry owners.
